The Cabin

We went to Marc’s family cabin in Idaho last week for a quick vacation. I can’t believe we survived a 10 hour car trip with 3 kids….I think I’m invincible now! The drive is completely worth it though. Here is the truck, all packed up and ready to go. We definitely had a full load!

We were “un-plugged” for 5 days, which is pretty hard to do these days. No Blackberry service, no electricity. Just a warm fire, a cozy cabin and our little family! Just check out this blazing fire. How could you not be relaxed?

We had a great timeĀ and there was plenty to do. We went to the hot springs, took some walks, did some chores, explored the woods and just lounged around.

I think I must have gained 5 pounds while we were there, but who can resist having bacon, eggs and scones all cooked in grease on a wood stove? Not me! I also drank 100 cups of hot chocolate. Yum yum.

We took a drive up to Daggar Falls. Isn’t this the most gorgeous scenery???

Being up in the middle of nowhere reminds me of a few things:

#1 – I love technology. Electricity, computers, microwaves – all great.

#2 – However, if something were to happen and we didn’t have all of those things, I would survive.

#3 – Being lazy is great. It had been a while since I had taken a nap in the middle of the day. And next to a raging fire!

#4 – Working hard is also great. Going out into the woods and chopping up a tree to make a fire definitely makes you appreciate it even more!

All 3 kids slept in the same room, even though there were other rooms to sleep in!

Bug and Boo had to figure out how to play together nicely and they succeeded. Marc sneaked up on them and got some great pictures.

Thanks for the great time, Grandjean.
