Musical Monday – All I Want For Christmas Is…

Musical Monday – Jason Mraz

We must have heard this song 100 times on the radio in Hawaii. They have a Hawaiian remix that we can’t find anywhere…does anyone have it??

Musical Monday – Let It Rock

This is for you Amy! :)

Dreams Come True…

Who would have thought I would be able to fulfill a dream 18 years in the making? Let’s start from the beginning – On September 1, 1990, I missed the New Kids On The Block concert in Provo, UT. I was only 8, but I was devastated. I thought I had missed my chance to meet Joey and get married….hee hee. I was crazy about NKOTB. I had the bedroom set, the posters, the Ken doll versions of the boys, the clothes, the VHS biography tape, the books the magazines, you name it. Just look at my excitement over some NKOTB flip flops!

A few days ago, my Dad called me to tell me he had free tickets to the reunion show. But not just any tickets. Six free 14th row floor seats! (Thank you, thank you, thank you Dad!) I immediately screamed and haven’t stopped since.

Last night was so much fun! Here we are waiting outside to get in!

Lady Gaga was the first opening act. Lady Gaga = Lady Coo-Coo. I like her song Just Dance but she was pretty out there. She kept showing some pretty weird pictures of herself on the screen. I admire her for being able to perform on a stage in that outfit though! Yikes!

Natasha Bedingfield was the second opening act. She was incredible! I liked her before last night, but I like her even more after seeing her live.

When NKOTB finally came out, it was so loud! The entire arena was screaming. Including me. My throat hurts. :)

Check out this view:

They sang all of the hits – Please Don’t Go Girl, Step-By-Step, Hangin’ Tough, Cover Girl, Tonight, Games, The Right Stuff, Baby I Believe In You…the list goes on and on! And of course, I had to sing along with every word of every song. I hope I still have friends today… :) I was surprised by how long of a set they did. They were on stage for over 2 hours!

Here we are enjoying a little Step By Step. You know you want to dance too.

They also did a few of the new hits – Single, Click click click, Summertime, Grown Man, 2 In The Morning and a few others! Jordan also did his solo single Give It To You and Joe did his solo single Stay The Same.

After the show, we topped off the night with dessert at Chili’s. Thanks girls for such a fun time!

I came home to a sparkling clean house. Marc did all of the dishes and the laundry…folded and put away. I have the best husband in the world!! How did I get so lucky???

Musical Monday – NKOTB with Neyo – Single

I’m totally back on the New Kids On The Block bandwagon…. I really like their new album! If you haven’t already listened to it, check it out!

Musical Monday – Mariah

This was the first song I played in my first CD player. It was also the #1 song 15 years ago!

Musical Monday – Jason Mraz Ft Colbie Caillat

Musical Monday – Leona Lewis

I’m sure you already know about Leona Lewis, but if you don’t – check her out! She has an incredible voice and she’s even better in live performances I’ve seen on TV. This is one concert I would love to go to.

Alicia Keys Concert Review

The concert was everything I wanted it to be! Hooray! There were a few set backs before it started. We were stuck in traffic due to an accident:

And Marc’s seat was directly behind this:

But once it got going it was wonderful! Alicia’s opening act was Jermaine Paul – who also happens to be her backup singer. And let me tell you, he can SING!

Here we are in our seats. Check out the girl behind us. Hee hee! She must have not liked the flash.

Alicia made a few changes to her performance since I saw her last. (As she should - that was 6 years ago!) When I saw her in 2002, she seemed uncomfortable anywhere but seated at her piano. This time, she had some moves! She was up and dancing along with her backup singers during the fast songs. She also moved around between a microphone at center stage, 2 different keyboards on left and right stage and her grand piano just off of left stage. She sang a 2 hour set including old favorites like Fallin, A Woman’s Worth and My Boo, but she mixed in new songs like Lesson Learned, Go Ahead, Like You’ll Never See Me Again and Superwoman. My favorite surprise of the night? She sang a cover of Tender Love by Force MD’s as a duet with Jermaine. Check out this awesome video of the original song featuring Force MD’s in all their 80′s glory.

I’m so happy she chose to perform at a smaller venue like Abravanel Hall instead of doing something at the E-Center or Energy Solutions Arena. The setting was much more intimate and everyone there was having a good time. Her voice is amazing. My favorite songs were just her and the piano. I wonder if she just plays and sings to herself a lot…I would! :) But maybe I wouldn’t last. My voice is hoarse today!
