I’m Thankful For… Day 7

A nice, hot shower! C’mon…what’s better than a hot shower? :)

Aloha Friday #5

Kailani at An Island Life does Aloha Friday and here is what she has to say:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question to you is:

Have you already started your Holiday shopping?

My answer?

Nope! This year is going to be a little last minute….unfortunately. Thank goodness for online shopping! :)

I’m thankful for a husband who is more than a husband. He is my best friend, my partner and my #1 fan. I love you honey!

Coupon Craziness!

Alright Ladies – if you aren’t down with clipping and using coupons, now is the time! Here are my thoughts on coupons:

#1 – You have to be dedicated to it
#2 – You have to enjoy it
#3 – You can’t be brand loyal
#4 – You have to hang in there the first few months of clipping coupons. If you give into the feeling that you don’t know what you are doing, you won’t stick with it.

Take a look at my coupon binder:

People look at me like I’m a crazy person when I go to the grocery store with it… But that’s ok! I’m used to it now. :)

Now I’m going to brag about the deals I got today… Albertsons is having a GREAT sale right now! If you spend $30 on a variety of products, you get $15 back for your next visit! Wow!

Transaction #1:

Total cost before coupons/preferred savings: $88.83
Coupons: $50.13
Final cost = $38.70 – $15 coupon for next visit = $23.70

Transaction #2:

Total cost before coupons/preferred savings: $120.05
Coupons: $77.35
Final cost = $42.70 – $15 coupon for next visit = $27.70

Total Savings? $208.88 – $127.48 = $81.40 – $30 = $51.40!

I still have $15 left to spend on my next trip, but I figured I would save it for various things I needed during the week – bread, meat, fresh veggies, etc.

Keep in mind that my total of $51.40 also includes a few beauty/health items as well as laundry detergent!

Hooray for coupons! Contact me if you want to know more – I love to talk about it! :)

They Should Have Had A Dance Off…

I’m Thankful For… Day 5

I’m Thankful For… Day 4

And I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free,
And I won’t forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Get out there and VOTE!

Hee Hee

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. I laughed so hard, I cried!

A few weeks ago, Bug was playing “The Spelling Game” with Grandma B. Grandma was giving her words to spell and she would write them out on a piece of paper. She did some easy words -  For, Mom, Love, etc. She was quietly writing her own word on the paper and she proudly held up PISS. I scolded her and said “We shouldn’t write that word!” She looked at me confused and said, “Pizza? Is pizza a bad word?” I looked at Grandma B and busted up laughing. We definitely had a good laugh.

Oh, kids… :)

Ouch – You’re Pinching My Wallet…

Everyone is thinking about money. And how could you not?? Every time you turn on the TV there is another report about Wall Street or the housing market or gas prices or this or that. I started clipping coupons to help our family save a few dollars. Now I’m the crazy coupon lady at the store with a binder, a calculator and all of the weekly circulars from stores in the area. :) It seemed silly to me to clip coupons and save $.50 or $1 per item, but then I started to do the math. For example, if I buy 10 items at the store and save $.50 on each item, that’s $5. If I can save $5 each week, that will add up to over $200 a year! (More on the coupons later)

Little savings add up to a lot over time. If you have eyeglasses, you know how expensive they are. If you want to save a few dollars on the cost of glasses, check out Zenni Optical for high fashion, prescription eyeglasses that start at just $8. They have an easy to navigate site that displays the eyeglass categories in the left sidebar. You can browse the site by cost, style, or even new arrivals.

So if you’re in the market for new glasses, check out Zenni Optical for an easy way to keep more money in your pocket!
