Serious Packing

I read somewhere online about a woman who packed for her kids by putting a complete outfit for each child in a ziplock bag and marking it with their name and date to be worn. Since I am going to Hawaii in a few days, I thought I would try it. Packing for 3 kids under 5 for 7 days felt like a daunting task. At first, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. I was surrounded by a thousand little ziplock bags and piles of clothes… But when it was all said and done, this is what I was left with!

A wonderfully organized, easy to look through suitcase! To keep the system going, all you do is put the dirty clothes back into the ziplock at the end of the day. No more rummaging through a thousand articles of clothing trying to figure out what to wear. Hooray! Hawaii, here I come…

This is for you Amy! :)

I’m Thankful For… The Late Edition

Ok, Ok, I know I’m a few days behind! But for good reason. So here are a few more things I’m thankful for.

Day 22 – Second chances!

Day 23 – The internet. I’m trying to pack for a trip to Hawaii in 4 days (HOORAY! :) ) and it has become quite the challenge. 3 kids under 5 on an airplane for over 6 hours?? Thanks to the internet, I can simply Google “Travel Plane Children” and be directed to a plethora of different sites with tricks and tips I never would have thought of myself.

Day 24 – Friends and Family that have more experience than me! So here’s where you come in… anyone have some great tips for me regarding travel with kids? I need tips for the plane or even tips for packing. I’m up for anything. Help!

I’m Thankful For… Day 21

I’m thankful for great entertainment! I went to see Twilight last night and I didn’t even have to wait until midnight! My friend Audrey rented out a theater for an 8:00 PM show!

Some of you know that I wasn’t too impressed with the books (don’t hate me) but I just didn’t catch the fever like some of the others I know… But after seeing the movie – I think I have! I LOVED the movie. Robert Pattinson did an awesome job as Edward. And I thought Kristen Stewart was the perfect Bella. Even if you weren’t a fan of the books – go see this movie! My husband with me and even he liked it :)

Aloha Friday #7

Kailani at An Island Life does Aloha Friday and here is what she has to say:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question to you is:

What is your favorite Thanksgiving feast dish?

My answer?

Oh boy, it’s all good…. But I would have to say candied sweet potatoes. Yum yum!

I’m Thankful For… Day 20

I’m thankful for online/electronic banking. It hasn’t been long since I remember watching my Mom slowly going through her bank statement with a pile of receipts, a check register and a calculator. Now I can purchase something, log into my account from my BlackBerry and see the debit immediately! Amazing.

I’m Thankful For… Day 19

I’m thankful for beautiful days like today! Cool air, warm sun and a bright blue sky!

I’m Thankful For… Day 18

I’m thankful for Shout. Otherwise, all of my shirts would have permanent stains on my left shoulder…. Baby throw-up is the greatest accessory! :)

Layaway Is Back!

Layaway is back at Sears! Don’t be tempted to use your credit cards this holiday season to guarantee your purchases. Just put your items on layaway, pay a down payment and spread out the payments until Christmas! For example, with Sears Layaway I can go pick up these super cute boots for Bug ($19.99):

A Craftsman 32 pc. General Purpose Tool Set for Marc ($59.99):

And a Kitchen-Aid for…me. I wish! :) ($299.99):

I just take them to a register with 20% cash (around $75), then set aside around $60 a week until they are ready for Christmas! Doesn’t that make more financial sense than 1) Finding the cash to do it all right now (and more, since I’m sure to be buying more presents than this…) and 2) Putting it on a credit card and having to pay interest!

Buying items on layaway makes it easier to stay within your budget since you don’t actually get to take home the product until it’s paid off. But Sears also sells quality products with name brands you can trust, so you know you are getting your monies worth!

Also, be sure you know all of the details regarding layaway plans before you commit. Some items are not eligible for layaway and fees may be applicable. Happy Shopping!

I’m Thankful For… Day 17

Monday Night Football. It gives me 3 whole hours to sit with my husband on the couch! :)
